Questions
The things people ask before they buy.
Accuracy, what happens when a sample fails, how long it takes, what the genomic panels return, and what we do with your data.
How accurate is a finger-prick sample?
Your sample is processed by a partner clinical laboratory under that laboratory's standard quality procedures. Capillary collection is not suitable for every biomarker, so a marker only appears in a blood panel where it is validated for finger-prick collection. We do not publish a single accuracy percentage, because one figure spanning dozens of different assays would be meaningless.
What if I cannot collect enough blood, or the sample is rejected?
It happens, and it does not mean you did anything wrong. Every kit contains a single-use lancet, a collection card and printed instructions. If the laboratory cannot process your sample, contact us and we post you a replacement kit at no charge.
Do I need to see a doctor first?
You do not need to arrange your own doctor's order. Everything needed to run the test is included when you buy the panel.
How long does it take?
For most panels the laboratory's turnaround is typically 24 to 48 hours from receipt of your sample. Genomic testing typically takes about 14 days. The clock starts at laboratory receipt rather than at purchase, because postal time varies and we will not promise you something the post office controls.
When will I know my results are ready?
They appear the next time you open the Cellubrite app or sign in on the website.
Will my own doctor accept these results?
Your full results carry the marker, the value, the unit and the reference range. Whether a clinician acts on a result from outside their own ordering system is their professional judgement, and we are not going to promise you otherwise.
What happens if something comes back outside the reference range?
The value is shown against its reference range so you can see exactly how far outside it sits. Take it to your healthcare provider. Cellubrite does not diagnose and does not prescribe.
What do the genomic panels actually return, and should I think twice?
Genomic results are your genotype and what it means, not a value in a range. The Methylation Genomic Panel includes APOE, which is associated with risk of late-onset Alzheimer's disease. That is information some people want and some people do not, and it cannot be unlearned. Decide before you order, and consider discussing it with your healthcare provider or a genetic counselor first.
Why does the email address matter so much?
Your email address is the key that links your order, your kit and your results. If the address you use at checkout is different from the one you register your kit with, or from the one you sign in with, we will not find your results. Use the same address at all three points.
Who can order, and where do you ship?
You must be 18 or over. Panel availability varies by state and is enforced at checkout, so you will know before you pay.
How long is a kit valid, and can I get a refund?
A kit is valid for one year from the date it ships to you, so there is no rush to collect. On refunds, we will be straight with you: all sales are final. We do not accept returns and we do not issue refunds, and there is no cancellation window, so please be sure of the panel before you buy. If the laboratory cannot process your sample, or your kit turns up damaged, we replace the kit at no charge. If we cancel your order, for instance because the panel is not permitted in your state, you are paid back in full.
Is there a subscription, and what do you do with my data?
There is no subscription. You pay once for the panel you choose, with no membership, no auto-renewal and nothing to cancel. This is a cash-pay service and we do not bill insurance. We do not sell your results and we do not share them with advertisers.
